Period Friendly World is a movement and it is in flow! Now more than ever before there are people actively working to raise awareness, develop more research opportunities and educate the masses on all things PERIODS!

YES! There is still a way to go - a long way - but the truth is SCHOOL IS IN SESSION, FINALLY! and woman’s health is on the agenda.

Over the next two years in the UK we will see new regulations under the Employments Rights Bill come into play. Basically, it will become mandatory for large employers to have a menopause policy in place, meaning that provisions will be available to help women struggling through their menopause journey to keep their job and get the support they need. This is one small step, but its a step in the right direction.

See, many women struggle during their later-life transition and I’ve heard it referred to as a disability more than once - but menopause is not a disability, it is a metamorphosis. The chemical system that has been running the woman’s life - mind, body and spirit, whether helpfully or not for the past, say 30/40 years, is completely changing. SHE is changing and that can be a hard slog for many women. Yet, given the right support it can be the most powerful time of growth she’s ever witnessed herself in. When she emerges the other side she is stronger, wiser, clearer about who she is and more dedicated to her roles in the world than she ever was before. Retaining older women in the workforce by supporting them through this sometimes major life experience can only be positive for business, company culture and society at large.

As a woman whose role in life is to support women, I spend a lot of time reading and thinking and creating ways to share woman’s wisdom with the women to whom it belongs. You see, a woman’s magic - everything she needs to show up in the world truly as herself, live fully, healthily and successfully - exists at the heart of her own, personal, lived experiences. And, I can tell you from experience that tapping into the knowledge held in the rhythms and flows of a woman’s own body is the master key.
